What to know if you read French as a second language
The exam questions are in French only (Ministry of the Interior: “40 questions in French”). Practising in your own language first helps; the free mock exam shows each question in French, English or Arabic with the correction.
What to bring and ask
On exam day FEI asks for your convocation, the login of your candidate account and valid ID (residence permit; passport or ID card for EU citizens). If you are late you are not let in and the fee is not refunded (FEI candidate manual, September 2026).
Le Français des affaires asks you to bring your convocation and valid ID: the residence permit for foreign candidates, a passport or ID card for EU citizens.
Ask the centre before paying: the fee, whether a retake needs a new payment, how it handles a medical certificate (adjustments are possible with proof), and the cancellation rule. Le Français des affaires says registration there is firm and not refundable; an excused absence can give a new date free.
Before you pay 60 to 80 €, see where you stand: 40 timed questions, corrected in English, French or Arabic.
Our rule of thumb: book only after 34 out of 40 on two mock exams. A fail means registering and paying again.
