Health: coverage when your residence permit (titre de séjour) is being renewed
This sheet explains how health costs are covered while the residence permit (titre de séjour) is being renewed. The rules are different for each type of aid.
Key points of the sheet
- With universal health protection (PUMa), health expenses stay covered for 6 months. These 6 months start on the date the residence permit stops being valid.
- For PUMa, 45 extra days are given. They start when you receive the letter from the health insurance fund announcing that your rights are closed.
- The Complémentaire Santé Solidaire (C2S) can be kept on request for 6 months. This is the same period as for PUMa.
- The C2S cannot be extended by 45 days, unlike PUMa.
